Important Information About April 7th Election & COVID-19

The Spring Election & Presidential Primary is occuring as scheduled.

All absentee ballots must be hand delivered by 8pm on April 7th to the polling place or postmarked by April 7 and received by 4pm April 13 to be counted according to teh U.S. Supreme Court.

 

Ballots will not be accepted if they are:

  • Not postmarked by April 7
  • Postmarked on or before April 7, but received after 4:oo pm on April 13
  • Hand delivered or without a postmarked received after 8:00 pm April 7

 

The deadline to request an absentee ballot in the mail has now passed.

Voters who need to register must do so on Election Day at the polling place.

TOWN OF MCMILLAN
MARATHON COUNTY, WISCONSIN
PROCLAMATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY
PURSUANT TO WIS. STATS. § 323.14(4)(b)
WHEREAS, the 2019 novel coronavirus (“COVID-19”) is a contagious, and at times fatal, respiratory disease; the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19 and the effects of its extreme risk of person-to-person transmission throughout the United States significantly affect the lives and health of citizens, as well as the economy, and is a disaster that impacts the health, security and safety of the public; and
WHEREAS, on January 30, 2020, the World Health Organization designated the 2019 novel Coronavirus outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern; on January 31, 2020, the United States Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II declared a Public Health Emergency for the entire United States to aid the nation’s healthcare community in responding to COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization announced that the COVID-19 outbreak is to be characterized as a pandemic; and
WHEREAS, on March 12, 2020, the Governor of the State of Wisconsin through Executive Order #72 declared a State of Emergency in response to COVID-19; and
WHEREAS, on March 13, 2020, the President of the United States declared a national emergency with respect to the COVID-19 outbreak; and
WHEREAS, COVID-19 has or is expected to impact the Town of McMillan; and
WHEREAS, emergency conditions exist and the Town Board of the Town of McMillan is unable to meet promptly; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 323.11 and 323.14(4)(b), it is necessary and expedient for the health, safety, welfare, and good order of the Town of McMillan to proclaim that emergency conditions exist; and
WHEREAS, the emergency has or will imminently cause the Town of McMillan to extend, commit, and exhaust its pertinent available resources; and
WHEREAS, the Town of McMillan requests State and Federal assistance and advises the State of Wisconsin of its emergency conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to Wis. Stat. §§ 323.11 and 323.14(4)(b), as Town Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer of the Town of McMillan, I hereby:
1. Proclaim that a public health state of emergency exists in the Town of McMillan; and
2
2. Authorize the emergency purchase of goods and materials; and
3. Authorize the emergency purchase of services; and
4. Authorize the closure or other appropriate limitations related to access by the public in all Town buildings; and
5. Authorize the Town Chairperson to assist and take all appropriate measures related to Town employees in addressing and responding to this state of emergency; and
6. Authorize that, consistent with the Wisconsin Open Meetings Law, the members of the Town Board, Plan Commission, committees, and the members of any other body of the Town, may form quorums and conduct meetings, to include but not limited to voting on matters, via electronic means such as telephonically or by video interaction.
7. This Proclamation shall be implemented consistent with applicable laws and subject to the availability of existing monies for such purposes.
This Proclamation shall take effect immediately and shall continue in effect until April 20, 2020, at 11:59 p.m., or such other time as a quorum of the Town Board convenes, but not to exceed the time during which the emergency conditions exist or are likely to exist.
